Just The Pain
JANSON · FRIENDS FOES AND LOVERS · Out 29 October 2026
Admitting it is the first step out. Two people who should never have lit the flame, passing hurt back and forth. Ending it as an act of mercy.

Lyrics
(Come on now)
Admittin' it is the first step out
(Come on now)
We both know we crossed the line
(Come on now)
We can't keep livin' like this
Let this mercy end the fight
Honest truth, I can say it now
We should've never lit that flame
We were wrong from the start somehow
I should've known better than to stay
It wasn't fair
To you or me
Or anyone who watched us bleed
Who we were
What we became
Just hurt passed back and forth by name
It was a match struck way too fast
Blind faith, bad hope, a future cracked
My whole world flipped upside down
Restless nights, no solid ground
(Come on now)
Admittin' it is the first step out
(Come on now)
We both know we crossed the line
(Come on now)
We can't keep livin' like this
Let this mercy end the fight
Can't you see
We lost our way
This ain't love
It's just the pain
Started worryin' 'bout my health
'Bout losin' more than pride
Searchin' hard for a way out
Just to make it through the night
Seems like this
Was the only door
We stayed too long, kept runnin' circles
Stuck in place
Wearin' thin
Callin' damage "tryin' again"
It was a match struck way too fast
Misled hearts, built to crash
My whole world flipped upside down
Anxious days, no solid ground
(Come on now)
Admittin' it is the first step out
(Come on now)
We both know we crossed the line
(Come on now)
We can't keep livin' like this
Let this mercy end the fight
Can you honestly say it was alright
Didn't you feel it dyin' every night
In pain
(Hey) Come on now
(Hey) Come on now
(Hey) Come on now
Let this mercy end the fight
(Come on now)
Admittin' it is the first step out
(Come on now)
We both know we crossed the line
(Come on now)
We can't keep livin' like this
Let this mercy end the fight
It was a match that burned too fast
Misled hearts from the past
My whole world flipped upside down
I'm layin' this burden down
