Lyrics
You keep pushin' everybody away
Burnin' every bridge you ever made
All I ever wanted was to stay
Stand beside you when you needed faith
But nobody was good enough but you
Every word had somethin' left to prove
Now I'm gone, the truth cuts clean
You don't mean a damn thing to me
I tried to bury the hatchet deep
But even peace felt like defeat
I've been holdin' this in way too long
You took the one thing that kept me strong
Now every step you take goes south
Funny how the truth comes out
You stand tall, yeah, you stand proud
But storms don't care how high you grew
You should know by now, it's written in the wind
Big trees take a lot of wind
You talked like you were bulletproof
Acted like the fall would never come for you
Every warning sign you brushed aside
Thought you were the fire, but you're the kindling inside
I tried to save what we could be
But you were too busy killin' me
I drew the line, I found my ground
You're shoutin' now, but I'm not around
I've been holdin' this in way too long
You took the one thing that kept me strong
Now every step you take goes south
Funny how the truth comes out
You stand tall, yeah, you stand proud
But storms don't care how high you grew
You should know by now, it's written in the wind
Big trees take a lot of wind
When the sky goes black and the thunder rolls
There ain't no crown that saves your soul
Every root you left to rot
Is gonna pull you down when the bottom drops
I've been holdin' this in way too long
You took the one thing that kept me strong
Now everything you touch goes south
Say my name, but I'm not around
You stand tall, yeah, you stand proud
But storms don't care how high you grew
You should know by now, it's written in the wind
Big trees…
Yeah, big trees take a lot of wind
Take a lot of wind
